We are delighted to deliver VisitAberdeenshire’s second annual tourism conference. This one-day conference is open to all tourism businesses in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including non-members and members of AGCC. Tourism is a key sector of the North-east economy, supporting 20,000 jobs in the region and around one in ten of Scottish tourism jobs.

Following on from the success of the 2017 sold-out conference, held by the region’s destination management organisation VisitAberdeenshire, the 2018 full day tourism conference will look at unlocking our potential, as well as giving a relaxed environment in which to exchange ideas and network with like-minded people.

Speakers include:
Andrew Wilson, founding partner, Charlotte Street Partners
Andrew will discuss the economic and political trends affecting the operating environment. He will look at the economics of tourism and its continued importance to the country.
Chris Foy, chief executive, VisitAberdeenshire
Chris will discuss the refreshed Tourism Strategy, VisitAberdeenshire’s priorities for 2018, followed by a tourism strategy action plan session.

Duncan Cockburn, chair, Culture Aberdeen
Duncan will talk about how the main themes of the culture strategy impact on and play a part in tourism, economic diversity and place making agendas.  

Guy Macpherson-Grant, director, North East 250 Limited
Guy will discuss the background of the route, prospects for the summer and how you can get involved in what will be one of the must do trips of 2018.

Jennifer Craw, chief executive, Opportunity North East
Jennifer will speak about the wider Renaissance Agenda for the region and the importance of tourism for the future of the regional economy.
John Sharkey, executive vice president, SMG Europe
John will be covering business tourism, and will explain how businesses can get involved in the new AECC, visitor experience and business engagement.

About the event
The day will comprise of a variety of presentations in which delegates hear from expert speakers who can help their business, with the opportunity to ask questions as well as dedicated networking breaks.
