This inaugural event will bring together representatives from both the offshore and onshore upstream oil and gas industries, and specifically those with a key interest in digital innovations across four key pillars: automation and control systems, data analytics, robotics and smart communications.
Our Breakfast Speakers
- Richard Harvey, global product manager, IMI Precision Engineering
- Ronald Holden, divisional director, Servelec Controls.
- EY Speaker - TBC
Richard Harvey from IMI Precision Engineering will be presenting on enhanced emergency shut down (ESD) valve testing and condition monitoring.
Proof tests of ESD valves are often considered ‘imperfect’ when they only verify the valve closure speed. This provides little indication of the underlying condition of the valve and the forces operating within the valve assembly. Such proof tests show that the valve closed today, but did it ‘only just’ close? Would it still work tomorrow or under different operating or environmental conditions?
Richard will discuss a simple, non-invasive method to monitor critical system parameters during valve closure. These can then be used to identify anomalous behaviour, to monitor changes in the valve performance over time and to plan more appropriate maintenance schedules. Most importantly, they improve the test coverage and increase confidence that the ESD valve will perform its safety function when required.
