The proposed changes in gender recognition law and the rapid increase in young people coming out as transgender or non-binary resulted in a negative backlash in 2018, often fuelled by misunderstanding and misinformation. Hear how organisations can embrace change and look to celebrate diversity at our next We Mean Business event.
Rikki Arundel: Proprietor and speaker at The GenderSpeaker
Rikki will explore the world of gender difference, helping make sense of the multitude of labels, terms and identities and outline how we can make the workplace more inclusive of gender variance.

Charlie Craggs: Transgender activist and author
Hear how Charlie Craggs, transgender activist and author, is tackling transphobia through education and empowerment. Charlie will share her story talking about the success of Nail It, a travelling manicure station nailing transphobia, and she will reveal why the lobster emoji is so important.

Additional interactive workshop:
Thursday May 30, 2019
08:45 – 11:30

The We Mean Business series helps employers understand some of the issues that can be found in the workplace around equality, diversity and discrimination and how they can be addressed.
A practical exploration of how businesses can engage more effectively with transgender and gender non-binary people.
In this practical, interactive workshop Rikki will help us to demystify the topic and explore the challenges and difficulties faced when engaging with transgender and gender variant staff and customers. The workshop is structured around watching and discussing a number of short videos and discussing common workplace scenarios involving gender variant staff and customers. There will be plenty of opportunity for participants to raise and discuss their own experiences and challenges of engaging with trans and gender variant people.

A special rate available if booking onto the workshop and lunch time event. Contact the events team for further information.
