This sell out biennial business breakfast once again launches the Offshore Europe conference and exhibition, focusing on new technologies keeping the overall theme of Offshore Europe in mind, ‘Embracing New Realities: Reinventing our Industry’.

EY Partner Mark Hutchinson will speak about ‘understanding the 4th industrial revolution’ and will look at how the working world is rapidly changing. His presentation will cover globalisation; demographics; advancements in technology; the adoption of artificial intelligence and automation; and how changing customer behaviours are impacting businesses leading to unprecedented change or ‘disruption’. What are the key themes you need to understand in order to embrace the opportunities disruption presents to continue evolving your business? Mark will also explain how EY is adapting and responding to its own disruption challenges.

Our second speaker, Graham Gillies of Baker Hughes a GE company, will explain how industry players are transforming themselves to ensure a sustainable future. He will discuss the shake-up of the traditional relationship between operators and vendors and embracing a more collaborative, long-term relationship. Investing in UK facilities, including the North-east of Scotland, and investing in our workforce and future generations through training and new skills development are key for sustainability, both of which topics Graham will cover in his presentation.

DNV GL, the technical advisor to the oil and gas and energy industries, will be releasing its inaugural Energy Transition Outlook during Offshore Europe. Group President and CEO Remi Eriksen will share the results from the company’s independent forecast of the world’s energy future leading up to 2050. He will discuss how the transition will unfold, its implications for the oil and gas sector and why digitalization will be a crucial component.
