Digital expansion should mean better connectivity, for everyone, online and offline.
That’s at the heart of GoFibre’s approach as we roll out an ambitious network build of gigabit-capable broadband across Aberdeen and Grampian.
We are proud to be Scotland’s fastest growing broadband provider, named 9th on the list of fastest growing businesses in Scotland by the UK Growth Index 2025 and Best Broadband Provider in Scotland by Broadband Genie. Since our formation in the Borders in 2017, we have rapidly expanded both our network and customer base. So how did an independent Scottish broadband builder and provider, focused on improving digital connectivity in rural and under-served areas achieve this? Prioritising customer engagement as well as committing to leaving a lasting impact in our communities, beyond providing our lightning-fast broadband, have been two critical components of our approach.
Having recently started construction to expand our network in North East Scotland – when it completes over 100,000 homes and businesses will be added to it – this is an approach we’re replicating across Aberdeen and Grampian.
At GoFibre, we want to create lasting benefits in the communities we connect. Our social impact strategy aims to make a positive, long-term difference for our customers and their communities. We focus on and invest in environmental benefit, community wellbeing, education and skills, and internet safety and digital inclusion. It helps guide our company policies and works hand-in-hand with our hyper-local marketing approach, which keeps us close to what our customers care about – their communities.
One example of how we invest in communities is by sponsoring grassroots sports clubs and initiatives. In Aberdeenshire, we’re proud to be sponsoring Portlethen Sports Club and providing the youth football team with new kit, helping Stonehaven Town Partnership to finish its shed project, supporting events like the St Cyrus 10k and youth performing arts company Rhythm Nation Dance’s summer shows.
We invest in our communities by hiring locally. Our staff live and work in the areas we operate in, and they know their communities, so our customer service and engagement have a hyper-local approach. We have two community engagement executives working in the North East, who work hard to establish and build relationships with our customers. As well as holding regular community drop-ins across the North East, they will also be out and about at community events such as Stonehaven Feein’ Market and Oldmeldrum Highland Games.
Our community-first approach, aligned to our people-first customer service approach, really helps GoFibre stand out in the marketplace. We’re proud of our industry-leading Excellent 4.7 Trustpilot and recent nominations for great customer service leadership at the UK National Contact Centre Awards.
Our approach keeps us at the heart of communities in the North East, expanding digital connectivity, but keeping in touch with people.
GoFibre is currently expanding its full fibre broadband network across the north east as part of Project Gigabit.
Project Gigabit is the UK Government’s programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access lightning-fast, gigabit-capable broadband.
The Scottish Government is playing a key role in delivering Project Gigabit procurements in Scotland by administering and managing the delivery of the contracts.
