Because Skene Business Centres offers office and therapy room rental across three locations in Aberdeen, our clients are our story.

How they use their space at SBC reflects their needs and business goals, and reveals how adaptable our spaces can be. So let’s start by showcasing one example of SBC at work, introducing Andy Gordon who’s run Aberdeen Massage Therapies from Skene Business Centres since 2019. Andy specialises in bespoke treatments, fixing current and historic muscle issues, and reveals why SBC works for him.

“I’m a results based business, with each session tailored to each individual client," says Andy.

"Many people use massage as a last resort, after something goes wrong or hurts, whereas I encourage it to be viewed as a forefront service, built in as part of your lifestyle. I initially worked from home but moving to SBC’s Queen’s Gardens allows me to keep my personal living space and professional life separate. This isn’t a stressful business, but my client list is growing so I appreciate some separation between work and home. Secondly, not everyone is confident going to someone’s house for massage therapy but this venue is smart and professional.

"I was originally looking for serviced office space on an all inclusive package, so I had no other overheads to consider’, continues Andy. ‘At the end of each month I get one complete bill so it’s hassle free. Skene Business Centres were recommended to me by word of mouth. When I arrived I got a warm welcome from Maeghan the Director of SBC, and that gave me confidence. I was shown round the three business centres, received a thorough tour and was talked through all the options. I also ended up renting a flat from Skene Investments, a sister company in Aberdeen too.

"At Queen’s Gardens I appreciate the ‘meet and greet’ my clients receive at reception, it’s a warm welcome, and I wish to project quality when it comes to my business. When my clients arrive they also appreciate the parking and the smart waiting area.

"It’s a 120 square foot two-desk room, with a lovely high ceiling and excellent lighting. In terms of communal facilities, I regularly paddle-board before work so I use the shower room to freshen up. I prep meals in the kitchen and eat in the Business Lounge, allowing me to socialise and keeps my room clean.

"Moving forward I want a bigger space. This would allow me to do more personal training demonstrations, and I’m also keen on offering two tables, one static, and one fully operational electric table.”

Thankfully, sizing up within SBC is relatively straightforward as our format allows businesses to flex office size up (or down) as business performance requires.

“Ultimately I’ve established myself here," concludes Andy. "You get your name out there and grow your reputation offering a consistent and comfortable setting for clients. It’s all about consistency, convenience and quality.”
