At C-SAM, we believe that technology is only part of what defines us. Equally important is how we show up for our communities and we’re incredibly proud to support colleagues who go the extra mile to make a real difference.
One of those colleagues is David Paterson, who is taking part in the CEO Sleepout Aberdeen 2026, an inspiring initiative raising awareness and funds to tackle homelessness and poverty.
Stepping outside comfort zones
On 16th April at Pittodrie Stadium, David will join other business leaders in spending the night outdoors experiencing, in a small way, the harsh realities faced by thousands of people across the UK every day.
This isn’t just about one night without comfort. It’s about shining a light on an issue that is often unseen, misunderstood, or overlooked.
As David shares in his story, growing up in Garthdee, life once felt predictable same streets, same schools, same experiences. But over time, he witnessed how different paths and circumstances can lead people to vastly different outcomes, including homelessness. That perspective is what drives his commitment to this cause.
Why it matters
Homelessness is not a distant issue affecting “someone else.” It’s something that can impact people from all walks of life. Initiatives like CEO Sleepout aim to:
- Raise vital funds for local charities
- Increase awareness of homelessness and poverty
- Encourage meaningful conversations and action
David has set a fundraising target of £1,000, contributing to efforts that directly support those in need.
