Real change happens when people are given the tools, confidence and support to look out for one another and that’s exactly what this partnership is delivering.
Through our work with RSABI (Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution) in collaboration with IED Training Solutions and made possible by funding from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust we are driving meaningful action to support mental health across the agricultural sector - a sector where pressures are high, isolation is common and support can quite literally save lives.
We are delighted to be on track to support 1,000 people by spring 2026 who are working in or alongside agriculture through Mental Health First Aid training. With 871 people already trained, this milestone represents far more than a number - it’s 871 individuals equipped to step in, start conversations, and make a real difference when it matters most.
Each trained Mental Health First Aider can:
- Spot early warning signs before a crisis develops
- Open up supportive, non-judgemental conversations
- Help people access the right support at the right time
The impact of this work is being felt across farms, food production, and rural workplaces. It’s reducing risk, strengthening resilience, and helping to create cultures where mental health is taken seriously and support is accessible.
Ian Clark, Operations Director for Rizon and Founder of IED Trainings explained that RSABI and NFU Mutual Charitable Trust have been instrumental in turning this ambition into reality, removing barriers and ensuring training reaches the people who need it most. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved so far and even more motivated by what comes next.
