When people think about energy advice services, they often assume they’re only for those on the lowest incomes. But the reality is that rising energy costs and inefficient homes can put pressure on households across all income levels.

A recent chat with a friend brought this to life for us.

A few years ago, she was living in a large property that needed significant improvements. The house was difficult to heat, energy bills were high, and despite having a good job, a large proportion of her income disappeared each month just keeping the home warm and running.

“It felt like I was constantly trying to catch up,” she recalls. “I was earning a decent salary, but after paying the bills there wasn’t much left. It was stressful and overwhelming.

Like many people, she assumed support wouldn’t be available because she was working and earning above the thresholds often associated with financial assistance. As a result, she struggled on alone, unaware that expert advice and support might have been available to help improve her situation.

Her experience highlights an important message: if you’re finding it difficult to manage your energy costs, you’re not alone – and support may be available even if you don’t think you qualify.

At Scarf, we speak to people from all walks of life who are worried about their energy bills, unsure where to turn, or simply looking for practical ways to reduce costs and improve comfort at home.

If rising energy costs are putting pressure on your household, get in touch. Our team can provide personalised energy advice, help you understand what support you may be eligible for, and offer guidance on grants, funding and energy efficiency improvements that could make a real difference.
