Technology moves fast, and the latest addition to that is AI.

Think back 25 years or so, we were just being introduced to the world wide web. Dialling in through analogue phone lines (remember the dial tone?) and blocking the phone line in the process. Who could have imagined that just a couple of decades later we would be connected to the internet 24/7?

AI is transforming how businesses work and especially in the way they create content. It’s a powerful tool that can also generate images and graphics in seconds. I’ve though about this a lot recently and had many great conversations around it.

It is incredible technology, but it does raise a question. When it comes to your business, are the images it creates really telling your story?

Behind every successful business is a story, values, people, processes, and the reason they do what they do. Commercial photography is no longer simply about having a few nice headshots or website images. It is far more powerful than that, it creates visuals that communicate who you are, what you stand for, and why clients should choose you.

Humans are naturally curious and love relatable stories. We connect with emotion, trust what feels real, and remember what resonates with us. That is what makes strategic commercial photography so important. The right imagery communicates professionalism, personality and trust.

And that is exactly why personalised professional photography matters even more now.

AI-generated images are fast and sometimes impressive, but they can’t replicate authenticity. Nor can they capture the real people behind your business or the unique details that make your brand different. Your audience is exposed to artificial and generic content all the time now, which means that authenticity becomes increasingly more valuable.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with using AI, especially when budgets are tight. But professional commercial photography goes far beyond taking good photos. As a photographer my role is to understand your brand, your audience and your goals, then create imagery that reflects all of that.

Most of my clients fall into one of two camps. They either know they need better photos but have no idea what they actually need, or they have lots of ideas but need help bringing them to life. I can help shape the vision, plan the shoot strategically, and create a library of images that work hard for your business.

Commercial photography is not just for your website either. Strong brand imagery supports your social media, PR, newsletters, presentations and every other place your audience interacts with your brand. Consistency across those touchpoints strengthens trust and positions your business as the expert in your field. Think of it as is a strategic asset, not a luxury.
