Katoni is a specialist Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company that has developed an exceptional reputation for late life asset management, production assurance, and the delivery of brownfield modifications and repairs on platforms, FPSOs and normally unmanned installations.
Their business philosophy is to work with clients to make them greener, safer and more efficient. The company also adopts this ethos internally and encourages employee engagement across these activities. Therefore attending the NEERSF funded net zero literacy programme for SMEs in September 2021 has helped build depth to their environmental plans.
As a largely office based company their carbon footprint is relatively small and the biggest difference they can make is in how they advise and support their clients. A key part of their carbon management plan is therefore to focus on ensuring all their staff are climate literate and are working towards reducing their own footprints as well as their clients.
Going forward they are now implementing a number of initiatives to support this.
- Encouraging active travel
- Creating personal incentives for staff to reduce their own carbon footprint
- Promoting the use of Pawprint a carbon foot printing tool to encourage staff to reduce their footprint.
- Identifying environmental champions and establishing a staff forum.
- Ensuring all staff are climate literate.
They will also look at options for improving the energy efficiency of the building where they work as well as investigating the option of offsetting some of their carbon emissions in the short to medium term.
Viktor Szecsi says: “This course was an eye opener in my opinion. The course was so rich, simple and easy to understand the key principles of assessing and managing the main environmental factors of Katoni Engineering Ltd. I thank all the instructors and organisers for their time and initiative to impart knowledge across those interested. I also extend my appreciation to the NEERSF for fully funding this course. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to know more about the causes-, effects- and counteracting measures to climate change.”
