If people are the most important asset in your business, then managing them effectively is the most important function.

However, dealing with HR issues is not just the domain of a human resources department (if you have one), it is something all managers and leaders are involved in.

Getting it wrong can be costly on many fronts, both financially and in terms of company culture and reputation.

Our essential HR skills course has been designed by business leaders for business leaders and will help delegates understand their responsibilities with regard to HR issues, the potential penalties for getting it wrong and techniques for performing their duties.

What will you learn?

  • Delegates taking part in this course will learn:
  • Identify issues of concern
  • What key employment legislation you need to know
  • How to create and apply policies
  • The importance of creating a ‘paper trail’
  • How to recruit and select the ideal candidate
  • How to induct new staff
  • How to develop staff
  • The importance of employee engagement
  • Dealing with discipline and grievance issues
  • Managing absence
  • Handling difficult employees
  • Dealing with voluntary and involuntary exit

Who is it for?

This course has been designed for new or inexperienced managers, anyone who undertakes HR as part of their role, and managing directors of smaller organisations.

Cost and duration

This course lasts for one day and is delivered at the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Training Hub by our approved expert trainers.

These sessions are also perfect for groups of staff that require the same training and can also be organised at your offices, an external location of your choosing.

We also run a reviews and appraisals course, which is perfect for those who manage people.
