Many high-performing individuals experience imposter syndrome, the persistent belief that they are not as competent as others perceive them to be. Despite clear evidence of success, they may fear being exposed as a fraud, work excessively to prove themselves, hold back from opportunities due to internal pressure.

This highly interactive course is designed to help participants understand imposter syndrome, recognise how it shows up in their own lives and learn practical strategies to manage it. Participants will explore the roots of self-doubt, identify unhelpful internal rules, begin to redefine what competence and success mean on their own terms.

What will you learn?

  • What imposter syndrome is and what it isn’t
  • The five imposter types and how they shape internal expectations
  • Common behavioural patterns and how they affect wellbeing and performance
  • How identity, environment and early experiences contribute to imposter feelings
  • Techniques to recognise and reframe self-critical thinking
  • Strategies to respond constructively when imposter feelings arise
  • How to create a personalised action plan to support confidence and self-trust

Participant outcomes

  • Recognise personal imposter syndrome triggers and typical behavioural patterns
  • Understand how early experiences and social identity shape internal pressure
  • Identify which imposter type influence their thinking and decision-making
  • Build self-awareness to challenge unrealistic internal expectations
  • Apply reframing techniques to manage self-doubt and develop inner confidence
  • Create and use a personal response plan to handle future imposter moments
  • Strengthen the ability to speak up, take initiative, and own achievements

Organisational impact

  • Improved employee confidence and communication
  • Reduction in overworking, perfectionism and underperformance
  • Increased resilience and psychological safety
  • Greater engagement, creativity and retention among staff
  • Enhanced ability to support wellbeing and reduce burnout risk
  • A stronger culture of self-awareness and openness in the workplace
