The Campaign reached a significant milestone with the inclusion of the commitment to “continue to work with campaigners to advance consideration of the provision of a railway to Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Ellon” within the Scottish National Party’s (SNP) manifesto ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.

Furthermore, during the election campaign, candidates from across the North-east political spectrum pledged their support to:

  1. Begin building Buchan Rail within this Parliamentary session
  2. Ensure Aberdeen to Central Belt upgrades are completed
  3. Approve news stations for Cove Bay and Newtonhill
