The North-east has been chosen as the operations base for the Bowdun offshore wind farm which is set to create 60 long-term jobs.

The £360million project will be based around 27 miles off Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire.

The 1GW wind farm will include up to 67 wind turbines, a network of up to 97 miles (156km) of inter-array cables, and up to 22 miles (35km) of interconnector cables and subsea collectors.

Developer Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) said the new base will form a key part of its £1billion commitment to Scotland’s supply chain.

Project director Ian Taylor has described it as a “significant and lasting investment in the region’s clean energy future”.
