One of Aberdeen’s most beloved cocktail havens, The Tippling House, has unveiled a bold new cocktail menu.

Nestled below Belmont Street in a dim, quirky cellar space, this late-night tavern has long been a gem in the city centre.

The launch of its new menu showcases the very best the bar has to offer, and the Morning Bulletin was invited to enjoy a sneak preview.

What did we think?

From the moment you descend into the venue, you're greeted by friendly staff, cosy booths, and a sense that this is more than just a bar.

The Tippling House was founded in 2012 by cocktail catering pioneers 10 Dollar Shake, headed up by Adrian Gomes. Its ethos has remained the same as it continues to deliver a high-end drinking experience for customers.

This is the first time the subterranean venue has released a dedicated cocktail menu, and it’s clear a lot of love has gone into it. The list is bursting with creativity, character, and heart.

The menu takes a thoughtful approach, beginning with a strong focus on non-alcoholic options - a welcome shift in an industry often centred around booze. Owner, Adrian Gomes emphasised that these 0% cocktails are “a mainstay and integral part of the menu”, not just an afterthought.

Cocktails have always been the bar's biggest seller with Gomes describing them as the “hero” of The Tippling House.

The menu

The new drinks, crafted by the bartending team themselves, are reflections of their personalities.  The structure of the menu takes you on a journey - from aperitifs to digestifs - with 15 inventive cocktails to explore.

Each drink showcases the team’s craftsmanship, with a chance to chat with the bartenders as they work their magic.

What hasn’t changed is the venue’s identity. While the menu brings something fresh, the bar remains the same warm, welcoming haunt that’s become a fixture in Aberdeen’s nightlife scene.

Gomes said: “For 13 years the bar hasn’t changed in term of its ethos. We’ve always been service-focused, so any time you’ve been here between 2012 or last week, you’ve seen the dedication to service and the friendly team.”

A personal favourite was the Pepper Saltzman which was a mezcal-based cocktail. Others included the Spice Boy and Fuego Chef which was the perfect mix between sweet and spicy.

Charity partnership

Two non-alcoholic drinks have been created in partnership with the local cancer support charity Friends of ANCHOR, with £1 from each drink going directly to patient support initiatives.

This marks the second collaboration between the bar and the charity, and so far, Gomes and his team have helped raise over £6,000 through various efforts.

Verdict?

The Tippling House is one of Aberdeen’s most loved bars and its new menu certainly didn’t disappoint.

Cocktails are priced between £8 to £12 with each drink thoughtfully composed and beautifully presented.

Whether you're sipping a smokey Pepper Saltzman or enjoying one of their vibrant mocktails, you're in for an unforgettable experience.

The drinks may be new, but the heart of the place hasn’t changed, and that’s exactly what makes it special.
