Tickets are now on sale for a unique fundraising event hosted by Aberdeen based charity Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) in partnership with Aberdeen’s 8848 Restaurant.

Taking place on Sunday 3rd August, the evening will offer guests an immersive cultural experience featuring Nepalese and Kenyan cuisine, live entertainment,  all in support of children and families in Kenya and North-east Scotland.

This special event will begin with a welcome from a traditional Scottish piper, followed by Nepalese canapés and a welcome drink. A four course meal will then be served, designed by the chefs at 8848 to celebrate both Nepalese and Kenyan culinary traditions.

In addition to the dining experience, guests will enjoy a programme of cultural performances, including a Nepalese dance troupe and local singer Rhianne Armstrong. Attendees will also hear directly from GEF and 8848 representatives about the ongoing work their partnership is making possible from education and mentorship programmes to the provision of essential living support.

Myles Edwards, co-founder of GEF, said:  “As a family, we have enjoyed meals at 8848 since it opened in 2014.  The opening of the restaurant was shortly after GEF was founded and Krish was always incredibly interested in and supportive of our work.  We are grateful to 8848 for their support over the years, which has transformed the lives of children in Kenya and North-east Scotland.  It is a pleasure to work with them, and we look forward to strengthening the partnership and growing its impact in the future.”

Krish Bhetuwal, owner of 8848, added: “We are honoured to contribute to a cause that aligns so closely with our values, and we look forward to welcoming guests to an evening that combines food, culture and purpose.”

Proceeds from the event will contribute to initiatives supporting the education, shelter and wellbeing of families in both countries. These efforts aim to create opportunities, enhance access, and improve overall well being for those in need.

GEF are also partnered with 8848 for their ‘Meals with Meaning’ initiative, which allows guests of the restaurant to add an optional donation to their bill to support the families that GEF are working to better the lives of.

Tickets are limited and early booking is encouraged.
