Aberdeen-based creative marketing agency Mearns & Gill successfully completed the Aberdeen Kiltwalk on Sunday, 1st June, raising over £2,000 - more than double its original target - to fund not one, but two public-access defibrillators.
Walking an impressive 18 miles as Team Cirque De Sare Legs!, the group united for a cause close to their hearts - installing a lifesaving defibrillator outside their Carden Place office, and now, thanks to the generosity of their supporters, an additional unit for a deprived community in Aberdeen.
The initiative was run in support of St John Scotland, a charity dedicated to saving lives through increased access to defibrillators and life-saving training.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have completed the Kiltwalk and even more delighted to have surpassed our fundraising goal,” said Mike Wilson, managing director at Mearns & Gill. “Thanks to the incredible support we received from friends, family, clients, and the wider community, we can now install two defibrillators - helping to make Aberdeen a safer place for everyone.”

Each week in Scotland, around 70 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR is vital, but having a defibrillator nearby in those first critical minutes can greatly increase a person’s chances of survival.
“The support we received has been overwhelming and shows just how much people care about making a difference,” added Mike. “Completing the Kiltwalk together was a brilliant team experience - and knowing we’ve helped bring lifesaving equipment to our city makes it all the more meaningful.”
The Kiltwalk is one of Scotland’s most beloved charity events, bringing people together from all walks of life to raise money for causes close to their hearts. Every pound raised is topped up by The Hunter Foundation, making each donation go further.
Donations are still being accepted on the Mearns & Gill page and will go toward further enhancing access to lifesaving equipment in the local area. To support the cause, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/team/mearnsandgilldefib
