Media Getaway - the annual travel PR event that brings travel media from across the UK & Ireland together with PR representatives of travel brands from all over the world - will be hosted in and around Aberdeen in June 2027.
The successful bid was led by the Aberdeen Convention Bureau, a division of VisitAberdeenshire, and supported by VisitScotland.
Announcing the destination, Howard Salinger, MD Travel Connection Group said: "Travel media events in the UK tend to be centred around the South East of England, particularly in London, as that’s where most of the big media titles are based.
"However, we set up Media Getaway in 2022 to show that these events can take place anywhere in the UK, and through hosting them we can bring people to parts of the UK they may never have visited before.
"Over the six years we’ve been hosting this event, every one of our host destinations has benefitted from having the event in their city, or region, and we hope that Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will see a similar reaction after hosting the 2027 event, with lots of media coverage produced after their visit.”
Chris Foy, CEO at VisitAberdeenshire commented “I am delighted that Travel Connection Group has chosen to bring Media Getaway to the Granite City in June 2027. Delegates can look forward to experiencing Aberdonian hospitality, and finding inspiration for stories in a region that boasts all the ingredients of a classic Scottish getaway combined with contemporary culture in a modern, uncrowded city."
Neil Brownlee, Head of Business Events for VisitScotland said: “It is fantastic news to see Media Getaway, a key date in the calendar for UK travel media, returning to Scotland next year, this time in Aberdeen. Business Events like this help showcase Scotland’s credentials in universally important and relevant sectors, such as media, while at the same time attracting influential delegates who support the visitor economy by staying, dining and shopping in the cities they visit.
"We know delegates can expect the first-class hospitality and visitor experience that Scotland and the North-east is famous for when they come to Aberdeen next year.”
