Aberdeen-based organisational psychologist, author and business leader Anurag Rai has published his fifth book, The Leader The Moment Demands, this month, with the title already receiving positive feedback from readers around the world.
Anurag, Founder and Managing Director of AMHWAL Academy, has spent more than 15 years working with leaders and organisations across a range of sectors. His latest book explores a simple but increasingly important idea: the leadership style that worked yesterday may not be the leadership style people need today.
With organisations navigating artificial intelligence, changing employee expectations, economic uncertainty, political shifts and increasingly complex workplaces, Rai argues that effective leadership is no longer about having one fixed style.
Instead, leaders need to learn how to read the moment, understand what their people need and adapt their response accordingly.
“Leadership is not about becoming one particular type of leader,” said Anurag. “It is about becoming the leader the moment demands. Sometimes people need direction. Sometimes they need space. Sometimes they need kindness, and sometimes kindness requires the courage to have a difficult conversation.”
The book challenges several traditional assumptions about leadership and explores themes including leading under pressure, adapting leadership style to individual needs, combining kindness with courage, creating environments where people feel able to speak up, leading without pretending to have all the answers, and remaining human in an increasingly AI-enabled workplace.
Rather than presenting leadership as a collection of theories, The Leader The Moment Demands includes practical reflection questions, tools and frameworks designed to help readers examine how they currently lead and expand their leadership range.
The publication marks Anurag’s fifth book and continues his work through AMHWAL Academy to make organisational psychology and leadership development practical and accessible for leaders.
Early reader feedback has already begun arriving from different parts of the world, with readers responding particularly to the book’s practical and human approach to the challenges facing modern leaders.
The Leader The Moment Demands is available now on Amazon in Kindle and paperback formats.
