IntrospeXion, the award-winning provider of mental health and neurodiversity clinics, has brought its ADHD screening and diagnosis services to the north-east of England through a new regional pop-up.
Headquartered in Scotland, the specialist wellbeing support consultancy launched a new regional hub in the north-east of England late last year. Through this new base of operations, IntrospeXion has sought to provide mental health clinics and counselling to businesses and individuals throughout County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear.
The company has now hosted its first ADHD assessment in England, which took place on Saturday, 31st January, in Newcastle. Through this screening and diagnosis service, IntrospeXion looks to address a significant pain point for many families in the region: the severity of ADHD assessment waiting times in the UK.
Far outpacing national capacity, referrals for ADHD screenings are currently increasing faster than the NHS can respond, with a backlog of over 549,000 people on the ADHD assessment waiting list in England. Regularly hosted within Aberdeen, the expansion of IntrospeXion’s screening service into Newcastle and the surrounding area provides a crucial support pathway for individuals struggling with undiagnosed neurodevelopmental conditions.

Open to the public, the clinics feature IntrospeXion’s psychologists working with patients one-to-one to guide them through the process. Upon completion of the assessment, IntrospeXion creates and delivers clear diagnostic outcomes and practical recommendations to support their needs going forward.
Previous IntrospeXion clinics have helped address feelings of being overwhelmed, burnt out, and distressed. Following IntrospeXion’s intervention, individuals have expressed feelings of possessing increased confidence and a renewed sense of control and optimism for their futures.
The Newcastle pop-up screening was hosted by IntrospeXion’s Consultant Psychologist, Dr. Neelam Zia.
Dr. Neelam commented: “The uncertainty caused by not having access to a diagnosis is a major contributor to stress and anxiety for many individuals and families. Too many people, through no fault of their own, are being left in the dark, feeling unheard and seeking not just help, but validation for their often-intense emotions. Without accessible and financially feasible pathways, we know thousands of people are going through life without the support they need, impacting their quality of life.
IntrospeXion’s ADHD screening and diagnosis services were established to provide a realistic route for as many of these people as possible. We’ve seen firsthand the difference these clinics have made from previous sessions in Aberdeen, so it's fantastic to be able to now bring this service to Newcastle, and we hope to continue generating further pop-ups throughout the country.”
