A daredevil Aberdeen businesswoman is preparing to take fundraising to new heights as she gears up for the challenge of a lifetime later this year.
Granite Occupational Health (GOH) co-founder Jen McHugh is preparing to take to the skies for her latest adventure and hopes to raise over £1000 for charity thanks to a 14,500ft skydive above Chicago in October.
As well as fulfilling a lifetime ambition, Jen will be raising money for Inverurie Community Recovery, a charity that helps with issues related to alcohol, drug use or mental health and also for Pancreatic Cancer, a cause close to the hearts of Jen and fellow GOH co-founder, Monica Walker.
Commenting on her plans to take to the skies, Jen said: “It’s something I have always wanted to do but it has only really become possible because of the health journey I’ve been on over the past couple of years. Reaching the point where I can take on a challenge like this feels very rewarding in itself.
“I really like to push myself out of my comfort zone and this seemed like the next challenge – I did wonder about doing a 9000ft skydive, but I thought a higher jump would mean a longer freefall to maximise the experience. I know I will be nervous when it comes to leaving the plane on the day but, at the same time, I can’t wait to get up there and go for it.
“The fact that it gives me a chance to raise money for two such excellent causes is the icing on the cake.”
