The boss of a trusted marketing powerhouse is preparing to put her best foot forward as she takes on the challenge of a lifetime.

In January, Cerri McDonald, founder and CEO of Aberdeen-based Prospect 13, will take part in a charity trek to the summit of Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.  She will be one of 40 adventurers who have taken on the fundraising challenge as part of anti-bullying charity Kidscape’s 40th anniversary.

The 40 participants will take part in a ten-day trip to raise vital funds for award-winning charity Kidscape which supports children and their families to challenge bullying and to have happy, health relationships.  The charity’s vision is for all children to grow up in supportive communities safe from bullying and harm.

Cerri was inspired to sign up after attending an Aberdeen event featuring charity ambassador and celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, whose hard-hitting presentation resonated with her own daughter’s experiences of being bullied at school.  Physically, she has been spurred on by a recent Mounjaro weight-loss journey, supported by health enablement partner Juniper, that has given her the physical strength needed to gear up for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Just three Scottish participants will join the trip in January, with two from the North east namely Cerri and fellow local businesswoman image whisperer, Rosee Elliott.

Commenting on the news, Cerri McDonald said: “As a parent, watching a confident, energetic, carefree girl fade was heartbreaking.  Bullying hits the whole family and our experience hammered home the importance of the right support having the potential to be life changing.  No child should feel small and no parent should feel powerless.

“I believe it’s important to push hard in business and in life, and taking yourself out of your comfort zone to face something new often teaches you a lot about yourself – that mindset is exactly what created Prospect 13 in the first place.

“This is a challenge I would never have contemplated even a couple of years ago but it has literally come at the perfect time for me to test myself in a way that will allow me to explore my physical and mental strengths whilst raising funds for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.”

Prospect 13, which now employs a team of 10, was founded by Cerri McDonald in 2018 to reinvigorate her passion for bold, creative marketing and communications following a 20-year career in the energy and tech sectors.  Since then, the company has flourished to become a trusted marketing powerhouse dedicated to supporting clients with results-driven strategies to unleash marketing potential.  Delivering big agency results but with personal, boutique agency services the company was the first in Scotland to introduce innovative subscription-based support packages in its sector.
