An 8.13% council tax rise has been recommended for Aberdeen, with councillors due to set the city’s budget next week.
If approved, the increase would see a typical Band D household in the Granite City pay an extra £65 per year.
The proposed rise sits above the current inflation rate of 3% and falls within a national range of 5% to 10% being considered by local authorities across Scotland.
More than £15.5m of potential savings have been identified as part of the budget-setting process, including cuts to music tuition and proposals to dim street lights.
The budget meeting will take place next Wednesday.
Elsewhere in the north east, Aberdeenshire and Moray councils have tabled proposals for 10% increases, while Shetland has recommended a 7.3% rise.
Scotland’s three largest councils by population — Glasgow, Edinburgh and Fife — have all proposed 5% increases, among the lowest in the country.
