Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is pleased to announce Matt Nicol as its chair and Jim Buchan as vice chair.
Matt was appointed to the Board of Trustees in March 2024 and has been acting as Chair since March 2025. Hugely passionate about the critical work delivered by the Trust across the North-east, Matt has over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector, having worked for numerous energy companies over the years.
Jim Buchan has served on the Trust Board since June 2022. He has over 30 years’ experience in healthcare, policy and education and has held senior roles in Government in Scotland and Australia. Jim is a Senior Fellow with the Health Foundation and a consultant with the World Health Organisation.
Both are also life-long Dons fans who understand the strong connection between the Club and the local community, and the power of football in transforming lives for the better.

Commenting on the new appointments, AFCCT Chief Executive Peter Davidson said: “We are delighted to have secured this strong leadership duo, and the Trust will continue to benefit hugely from Matt and Jim’s continued experience and guidance.”
Matt Nicol added: “These are challenging times, with greater demand than ever for our essential services, coupled with funding challenges, but Jim and I are looking forward to working with our fellow Trustees, the leadership team and our fantastic staff and volunteers to drive the Trust’s continued positive impact in our local communities.”
