Aberdeen International Airport to extend Befriend a Child charity partnership to 2020

Aberdeen International Airport is to build on the £15,042 already raised for Befriend a Child by extending its charity partnership for another year.

Passengers and airport staff have collectively raised more than £15,000 for the Aberdeen-based cause since May 2017, when employees selected Befriend a Child as its chosen charity.

Aberdeen International Airport’s managing director Steve Szalay said: “Befriend a Child do incredible work in the community and as the only specialist befriending charity for children in the North-east, we are incredibly proud to continue our corporate relationship further.

“We hugely enjoy taking part in fundraising initiatives to raise vital funds for the charity, so it can continue to offer lifeline services to children growing up in and around Aberdeen in difficult life circumstances. We’ll be fundraising throughout the year to raise even more funds for this fantastic and essential charity."

Befriend a Child’s CEO, Sarah Misra, said: "The support we have received from Aberdeen International Airport throughout our partnership so far has been invaluable to the charity. The airport’s backing has had such a positive impact on the children, befrienders and mentors we support.

“We are thrilled that the partnership has been extended to 2020, and we look forward to working with the fantastic team at the airport on even more fun and engaging activities throughout the coming year.”

Befriend a Child is also set to benefit from the next Aberdeen Runway Run, with funds shared among Befriend a Child and Veterans with Dogs.
