The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has been extended to bring Scottish stand-up farmer, Jim Smith’s Back To the Teuchter show to the City for his biggest gig yet.
With two sell-out Fringe runs and four sell-out shows at the Tivoli under his belt, when he’s not on the farm Jim is sought after as a performer all over Scotland.
Due to phenomenal demand, the hugely popular farmer turned comedian has added more dates to his debut Scottish tour and will now close the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival at the Music Hall on October 14.
Back to The Teuchter is the third solo show from "comedy farmer" Jim Smith. It's ‘Countryfile’ meets ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ as Jim hits the stage using characters, regional accents and impressions to help explain to city slickers what the outside world looks like through the eyes of those that 'bide up the glen'. Hot topics will include internet dating for farmers, village nightlife and how to pimp your Land Rover. Suitable for both country bumpkins and dead trendy city folk.
Jim shot to fame after stints on BBC’s Scot Squad and Breaking the News and has also appeared on The Farm Diaries.
He said: “What an honour to close the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival on my debut tour! I'm so happy to be doing the Music Hall in Aberdeen where I've had such great audiences, and don't worry - I checked with Floss and she's confident she can manage without me for the day."
Now running from October 3 to October 14, the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has a stellar line-up of comedians including Ben Elton, Fern Brady, Janey Godley, Magic Gareth, Ashely Storrie, Stuart Goldsmith, Daliso Chaponda and Catherine Bohart among many others.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, organisers of the festival, added: “We are absolutely delighted to extend the festival to feature none other than Jim Smith and his unique brand of couthy country humour.
“Jim gets a fantastic response across the UK and we can’t thank him enough for taking time out from farming life to bring our biggest festival yet to an amazing close with a bonus night at the Music Hall on October 14.
“With just over two weeks to go until comedy takes over the city, we would urge the public to act quick to secure tickets. Whether it is a current favourite or discovering a new comedic talent, there is so much on offer during the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival, so join us and have plenty of laughs next month.”
The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival will run at a multitude of city venues, bars and clubs over the course of 12 days from Thursday 3 October until Monday 14 October 2019. The festival has been organised and promoted in its entirety by Aberdeen Inspired since 2016 with generous support from The McGinty’s Group Scotland and Balmoral Group.
