Aberdeen legends of magic take to the high seas Aug 2 2018 | Fifth Dimension

Aberdeen-based magicians and presenters Fifth Dimension are heading for a life on the ocean waves next week to perform in an international magic show on a top cruise ship.

Ivor Smith and Jeff Burns will appear on the Legends of Magic cruise to conjure up a host of spellbinding performances on the cruise ship Columbus from August 11. The popular double act will join a group of internationally-renowned magicians and television personalities to entertain the 1,700 passengers in a series of evening gala shows throughout the 13-day voyage.

The Legends of Magic cruise marks the latest in a string of high profile engagements around the world, including a headline performance in Las Vegas. The duo is also the only act from the north east of Scotland to have been invited – twice – to perform at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Ivor said: “We’re delighted to be performing on the Legends of Magic cruise and to work alongside such respected magicians from around the world. We’ve put a lot of time into the development of our act and we can’t wait to share it with the Columbus’ passengers later this month.”

Jeff added: “As well as our gala show performances, we’ll also be performing an afternoon family show and running a workshop for the those that want to flex their creative muscles during the trip. We’re really excited about this opportunity and you’ll be able to keep up with our journey via our Facebook page.”

The ship will cruise around the Baltic, stopping off at seven locations including St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki.

And when they return to dry land, Ivor and Jeff won’t have much time to rest on their laurels as they go straight into rehearsals for their spot on another prestigious show – The International Stars of Magic and Variety – on September 7.

Ivor said, “We’re thrilled to have been invited to be part of this show which is the main gala show at the International Brotherhood of Magicians annual convention in Southport. To be asked to entertain your peers is a great honour and we’re really looking forward to it.”
