Aberdeen Local Wine School is set to join wine educators, bars and restaurants from more than 30 countries as International Sherry Week returns from November 2 to 8 2026.

Now in its 13th year, the worldwide celebration showcases the rich heritage, unique craftsmanship and vibrant culinary appeal of southern Spain's Sherry Triangle. From lively tapas trails in Seville to dedicated masterclasses across Europe and beyond, the week brings people together over exceptional pours while helping to challenge outdated perceptions of sherry.

The international festivities will reach the North-east this year, with Aberdeen Local Wine School welcoming local enthusiasts to its Sherry & Bites evening at the Foghouse in Inverurie on Friday 6 November 2026.

Anna Ferrier, founder of Aberdeen Local Wine School, said: "International Sherry Week is such an exciting fixture on the global wine calendar because it brings so much joy and curiosity to the table. For a long time, sherry was unfairly pigeonholed, but when people taste an authentic, chilled fino or a nutty oloroso paired with the right dishes, their eyes completely light up. It's an incredible celebration of community, culture and delicious food."

Aberdeen Wine School is run by Anna Ferrier and was launched in August 2022. Anna has worked in the wine industry for over ten years and holds the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Diploma as well as being a certified WSET educator. She is looking to bring the world of wine closer to both novices and experts by learning and tasting a wide variety of styles, covering wine producing countries from across the globe. She is working closely with other local businesses and venues to run her events.
