Aberdeen Local Wine School is bringing its popular tastings to Ellon for the first time, with a debut event at Ellon Spirits on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Running from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, the evening is all about discovering how wine and cheese work together, with seven carefully chosen wines to taste. Aberdeen Wine School has once again teamed up with Gourmet Cheese Co to bring guests a fantastic selection of artisan cheeses, perfectly chosen to complement the wines.
Perfect for curious beginners and wine lovers alike, this friendly two-hour tasting is about more than just sipping wine. Guests will explore how flavours and textures interact, learning why a crisp Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with creamy goat’s cheese or how a bold red Bordeaux can match the richness of a mature cheddar.
Each guest will enjoy seven wines covering a range of styles, alongside a gourmet cheese platter featuring six artisan varieties. The guided session also includes tasting notes to take home, plus plenty of practical tips on pairing wine and food when entertaining at home. With its relaxed, social atmosphere, the event also makes a great gift for any food or wine lover.
Aberdeen Wine School is run by Anna Ferrier and was launched in August 2022. Anna has worked in the wine industry for over nine years and holds the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Diploma as well as being a certified WSET educator.
She is looking to bring the world of wine closer to both novices and experts by learning and tasting a wide variety of styles, covering wine producing countries from across the globe. She is working closely with other local businesses and venues to run her events.
