Eastern Airways, a franchise partner of Flybe, is improving its Friday morning timings to London City Airport from Aberdeen for leisure travellers, having listened to passengers, giving a more convenient departure for those making weekend trips to the capital.
From August 24 2018, Friday morning flights have been re-timed to leave Aberdeen later at 11am, arriving in London City at 1pm. Those heading north on Fridays will leave London City at 1.30pm, landing in Aberdeen at 3.10pm.
The UK airline started operating a twice daily weekday service from Aberdeen to London City on May 7 this year, while also providing a Sunday service into the heart of London.
From Monday, August 5 2018, the regional carrier is also adjusting morning and evening southbound timings Monday to Thursday on the route to help further improve punctuality.
On board Eastern Airways operated flights, passengers are offered complimentary drinks and snacks, and fares start from £89 one way, including taxes and charges, bookable at Flybe.com. Regular customers can also benefit from discounted route passes offering 35% savings.
Roger Hage, Eastern Airways’ general manager operations, said: “Having listened to customer feedback, we have retimed our Friday morning service to a later departure time at 11am, which conveniently gets Aberdeen passengers into London City for early afternoon. This also offers a new 1.30pm northbound service which will help those returning home to north east Scotland.
“Separately, we have also made some Monday to Thursday weekday timing adjustments on southbound services to further improve on-time performance on the route.”
Carol Benzie, Aberdeen Airport, managing director said: “It’s great to see the London City departure times altered to suit our leisure passengers. The change means that they can arrive into the London at a more convenient time, avoiding rush hour build-ups. Similarly, when passengers return back to Aberdeen, they’ll be touching down mid-afternoon allowing them to make their onward journey, whether it be to their homes or elsewhere, even quicker.
“We’re delighted to see our airline partners responding to their passengers’ requests and making positive changes.”
Eastern Airways has been operating flights from Aberdeen since 1997 and provides a range of services from the north-east airport to the UK regions.
