The routes for next year's 5k, half marathon and Europe's coolest full Aberdeen marathon have been confirmed, with runners heading from Marischal Square out to Milltimber and back again.

Following the runaway success of the pilot event on Saturday, organisers Aberdeen Marathon Company announced the event would return bigger and better in 2027.

Now, full details of the routes have been set out, with The Press and Journal creating maps to demonstrate the lengths participants will go to next summer.

Starting and ending at Marischal Square, runners will test out the, by then, fully reopened and transformed Union Street and race past the new £50million beach playpark.

Heading all the way out to Milltimber, participants will be tested with a challenging hill before returning to the city centre.
