Three original theatre productions involving Aberdeen Performing Arts have been recognised in the 2026 Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) shortlist, picking up nominations across seven categories.

Hit musical The High Life, a co-production from the National Theatre of Scotland and Dundee Rep Theatre in association with Aberdeen Performing Arts and Capital Theatres, has been nominated for Best Production, Best Ensemble, Best Music and Sound.

Re-imagined classic Saint Joan, a Raw Material, Perth Theatre and Aberdeen Performing Arts Co-Production in association with Citizens Theatre, has been shortlisted in Outstanding Performance for Mandipa Kabanda, Best Director for Stewart Laing and Best Technical categories.

Tongue Twister, a co-commission by Imaginate as part of Light the Blue Festival 2025, produced by Scottish Theatre Producers, in partnership with Aberdeen Performing Arts, in association with Kloden teater and supported by North Edinburgh Arts, is shortlisted in the Best Production for Children and Young People category.

Winners will be announced on June 21.
