A new restaurant bringing the taste of mainland China to Aberdeen has found the recipe for success, thanks to tailored support from Business Gateway.

Luna Chinese Bistro, founded by Lasco Liu and Jue Wang, brings a rich tapestry of flavours, aromas and textures to Aberdeen’s dining scene, taking guests on a culinary journey through China’s diverse provinces. Having met while studying at the University of Aberdeen, Lasco and Jue went on to run a successful food delivery business before pursuing their shared dream of opening a restaurant that celebrates authentic Chinese cuisine.

Luna was established with the goal of offering Aberdeen residents a genuine taste of mainland China. The team’s chefs use carefully selected ingredients and are trained in regional Chinese cooking techniques to ensure each dish tastes just as it would in China.

Since opening earlier this year in July, Luna Chinese Bistro has quickly made its mark on the city’s dining scene, attracting a growing number of regular customers who return for its welcoming atmosphere and authentic menu.

Working closely with Business Gateway adviser, Sean Cowie, the pair received one-to-one advisory support, guidance on marketing and advice on routes to funding to help them prepare for launch. The support gave them the confidence and clarity to refine their business strategy and establish a strong foundation for growth.

Lasco Liu, co-owner of Luna Chinese Bistro, said: “Luna was born from our passion for authentic Chinese food and our desire to share it with Aberdeen. We wanted to create a restaurant that feels true to our roots, offering flavours that transport people across China’s provinces.

“Business Gateway has been an incredible support throughout our journey. Sean’s advice helped us focus our ideas, plan our marketing and prepare for a successful opening. We’re now looking ahead with confidence as we continue to grow and make a name for ourselves in the city.”

Sean Cowie, Business Gateway adviser, said: “Lasco and Jue’s drive and attention to detail have been clear from day one. Their commitment to authenticity sets Luna apart and it’s been rewarding to see how their hard work has turned their vision into reality.

“Business Gateway will continue to support the team as they look to grow and establish Luna as one of Aberdeen’s must-visit dining destinations.”

Looking ahead, Luna Chinese Bistro plans to introduce an exciting tapas-style menu, allowing diners to enjoy a range of their favourite dishes while sampling new and distinctive flavours from across China.
