Taexali Rugby Club is celebrating five years of partnership with Specsavers Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Taexali Rugby Club holds a distinctive position as the only LGBTQ+ inclusive rugby club in the region, fostering an environment that champions acceptance, respect, and camaraderie.

The Specsavers store on Union Street has been supporting the club since its inception in 2018 and the club has gone from strength to strength since.

The club chairman, Brandon Jones, says: ‘The support from Specsavers over the last five years has been incredible, helping us expand the club and its initiatives to become a beacon of inclusivity for all in the North of Scotland.

‘Their support keeps our unseen day-to-day work going. We can’t thank the Specsavers’ Union Street team enough for seeing the value of the work that we do and backing up that belief.’

Adam Fairley, retail director at Specsavers Aberdeen, says: ‘It has been a pleasure to reflect on the solid foundations that the club has built over the last five years.

‘They are a fine example of how valuable inclusivity can be if it’s baked in from the start - both on and off the field. We are immensely proud to support the club and hope to be here in five years’ time celebrating a 10th birthday with them.’
