Fennex, an Aberdeen technology company that began as a local start-up is celebrating its tenth anniversary, marking a decade of innovation while demonstrating the strength of Scotland's growing technology sector.

Founded in Aberdeen in 2016 by Managing Director Adrian Brown, Fennex has remained headquartered in the city throughout its growth, developing software that is now used by organisations across more than 20 countries to improve safety, operational performance and decision making.

Over the past ten years, the company has grown from a small technology start-up into an internationally recognised software business, creating high-value jobs in the region while exporting Scottish innovation to customers around the world.

The company's success was recognised in 2025 when Fennex received the King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade, one of the UK's highest honours for business.

Today, Fennex develops cloud-based software, data analytics and artificial intelligence solutions that help organisations move beyond traditional reporting towards proactive, predictive decision making across safety, operational excellence and risk management.

Managing Director Adrian Brown believes Aberdeen has played an important role in the company's success.

"We've always believed you don't need to leave Aberdeen to build a world-class technology company. The city has exceptional engineering expertise, outstanding universities and a strong culture of innovation. We've been fortunate to grow here, employ talented people here and develop technology that's making a difference for organisations around the world."

Throughout its journey, Fennex has worked closely with customers, universities and innovation partners to develop practical technology that addresses real industry challenges. The company continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence and predictive technologies, helping reinforce Aberdeen's reputation as a global centre for industrial innovation and digital transformation.

As Fennex enters its second decade, the company remains focused on developing world-class technology from its Aberdeen headquarters while continuing to grow its international customer base and create high-value employment in the north-east of Scotland.
