Aberdeen business leaders were treated to a marketing masterclass from one of the UK's leading advertising experts yesterday.

Ed Brooke, head of The Leith Agency, discussed pushing the boundaries with advertising at the second event in the Ultimate Masterclass Festival, a series of six events designed by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce to inspire new thinking.

He spoke in detail about not just pushing the boundaries in advertising, but also just how much – and how quickly – the boundaries can change.

The event also heard from David Sanderson of AdSmart by Sky, who explained how the platform is making television advertising more targeted and more affordable for businesses around the UK.

The event, which was attended by 140 business leaders, was the second of the Ultimate Masterclass Festival (UMF), a series of city centre events being delivered in partnership with TotalEnergies.

AGCC launched the Ultimate Masterclass Festival (UMF) as part of a six-figure investment in Union Street and the surrounding area.

The events – to be held throughout the year and across five city centre venues – will feature three internationally acclaimed best-selling authors, as well as business experts across a number of disciplines.

In May, The Tivoli Theatre will host a special evening with Elizabeth Day, author of ‘How to Fail’, which has gone on to become one of the UK’s most popular podcasts.

The journalist, author and screenwriter will explore her own experiences and how when she removed both the fear and ego, saw failure very differently.

And headlining the festival at The Music Hall in October will be Steven Bartlett, star of television’s Dragon’s Den and one of the world’s most famous and respected entrepreneurs today.
