Aberdeen University Students’ Union is turning 25 this year and is inviting the Aberdeen community to help us celebrate.
On Thursday 13 February, we’ll be hosting a special 25th Anniversary Celebration at the beautiful and historic Elphinstone Hall, University of Aberdeen, starting from 7pm.
This is a night for everyone who’s been part of its story, including alumni, former Sabbatical Officers, current students, University staff, local organisations and partners, and anyone who feels proud to have Aberdeen’s students at the heart of the city.
The union is also seeking anyone who was involved in a sports club, society, Student Council or forum or as a volunteer during their time at the University, to go along, reminisce and celebrate.
As part of Founders Week, the evening will include a drinks reception, awards, a ceilidh, and a few fun trips down memory lane as the union will look back on 25 brilliant years and look forward to what comes next.
Aberdeen University students bring huge economic, educational and cultural value to the city, and the Students’ Union is here to support them throughout their time in Aberdeen - from representation and democracy to wellbeing and welfare support, to sports, societies, activities, leisure and community-building.
That work plays a bigger role than many people realise. A strong Students’ Union helps students thrive during their studies, feel supported, connected and proud to call Aberdeen home. That’s a key part of encouraging young people to study here and graduates to stay in the North-east, build their lives and careers locally, fill skills gaps, start businesses, innovate, volunteer and contribute to future economic growth and a strong Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Supporting Aberdeen University Students’ Union is one practical way organisations and individuals can help strengthen that pipeline of talent; helping students flourish during their studies and helping Aberdeen and the wider region flourish economically and socially for years to come.
All proceeds from the event will go directly back into supporting Aberdeen University Students’ Union, helping it continue to deliver the services and experiences that make student life in Aberdeen so special.
Tickets are just £15, and we’d love to see as many friendly faces there as possible.
The union is also keen to hear from businesses and organisations who would like to support the event through sponsorship or donations. It’s a great way to celebrate local students and invest in the future success of the region.
