Aberdeen volunteers wanted

It’s been an unforgettable summer as Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail has taken over the country. Thousands of people have been enjoying seeing the unique sculptures, designed to raise money for Scotland’s children’s hospital charities.

As the trail draws to a close The ARCHIE Foundation is getting ready for the Farewell Weekend, where the public can see all of Aberdeen and Inverurie’s sculptures in one place before they go to auction.

The charity, which supports Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, is looking for volunteers to help out at the Farewell Weekend. With roles ranging from selling and checking tickets to merchandise and brochure sales, counting money and helping the public, there is something for everyone who wants to help out.

The charity is looking for volunteers for the following time slots:

Friday September 13: 10am-2pm and 2-6pm
Saturday September 14: 10am-2pm and 2-6pm
Sunday September 15: 10am-2pm and 2-6pm

Volunteering at the Farewell Weekend is a great opportunity for anyone looking to enhance their CV or just to be part of one of the most popular public art events the country has ever seen.

The Farewell Weekend, at Aberdeen’s Marischal College Quad, is sponsored by Zero Waste Scotland and features all 36 large Oor Wullie sculptures as well as the 42 wee statues created by local schools and community groups.

Anyone interested in helping out should email tiffeny.rothwell@archie.org with their availability and she will be in touch to make arrangements.
