Aberdeen’s first wellbeing festival is being welcomed back on Saturday, October 1 to The Robert Gordon University campus for the first time since the pandemic hit in 2020.

The first of its kind in Aberdeen, the festival – a not-for-profit organisation – aims to engage the local community across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire into taking an active role in looking after their own health and wellbeing. By bringing together inspirational speakers, providing opportunities to try out different workshops and showcasing the excellent resources which are available in our local community the festival hopes to enable the public to see what Aberdeen has to offer in this area.

Talking about this year’s event, Co-Organiser and Director, Sarah Stewart, said: “We are so delighted to be able to bring this festival back to the people of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Our first event was held in January 2020 but then the pandemic hit so we’ve had to wait patiently to bring our second festival to life and we are really grateful to those who are supporting us in this venture.”

Sarah’s Co-Organiser and Director, Dr Emma Windle, added: “Our idea for the festival was borne out of a realisation of how lucky we are to live in an area which has lots of organisations, charities and businesses all trying to improve the health and wellbeing of the city and shire. We are delighted to bring many of these under one roof to offer people the chance to hear inspiring speakers or try more practical workshops. It raises the awareness of the importance of looking after ourselves and each other which is particularly important in the current climate.”

This year’s event is once again being kindly hosted by The Robert Gordon University at their Garthdee campus in the Sir Ian Wood Building. The event is also being sponsored by Hunter Adams, Kindspace and Libereat.

With over fifty stalls from local charities, organisations and businesses; twenty practical workshops and six speakers spread throughout the day for guests to get involved with, there’s sure to be something for everyone. From sports activities and challenges for kids, to the impact of climate change on our health, to yoga and meditation, to nutrition, it’s set to be a fun, informative and worthwhile day out for all the family.

Headline / guest speakers include:

  • Hannah Miley MBE, local three-time Olympian and Commonwealth champion swimmer
  • Professor Alexandra Johnstone, a nutrition scientist at the Rowett Institute
  • Dr Julie Gray, local GP and member of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine
  • Dr Emma Hepburn aka @thepsychologymum, a clinical psychologist with 135k followers on Instagram
