An Aberdeenshire councillor who joined Reform UK has quit the party, criticising its language around immigration as being "too strong".
Robbie Withey, who represents Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford, quit the Conservatives and formally became a Reform UK member - although he continued to sit as an independent with no official affiliation to Nigel Farage's party.
But after little more than a year, Withey has given up his Reform membership, telling The Press and Journal: “Nationally, I don’t think they’re talking about the right things.
“They are very, very focused on immigration. I get that. We do need to deal with that. The language they use is too strong for me.
“If they ever get into power, they’re going to realise there’s a whole lot more they need to deal with.”
