A leading Aberdeenshire recruitment firm is celebrating a business landmark with news of expansion into key emerging markets following its most successful year to date.

Banchory-based recruitment firm Grace May is celebrating its milestone tenth anniversary this year with news that revenues are up by more than 20% to almost £500,000 in the most recent financial year.

Grace May was founded by former financial adviser and commercial helicopter pilot Sasha Jaypalan who took up a new challenge in the recruitment sector when his aviation career was cut short in a downturn.

Whilst technology and the energy sector are still the mainstays of the business, organic growth and an expanding client base has brought successful moves into new verticals such as legal, HR, engineering and an increasing volume of energy positions including renewables.  With the Aberdeen area accounting for more than half of revenues, geographical expansion into Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester is also broadening the client base thanks to a straight-forward, people-centred approach.

Grace May is now preparing for the next chapter in its story, with a refreshed look including a new website, and plans for more expansion which will further broaden the team’s horizons.

Commenting on the company’s landmark year, Sasha Jaypalan said: “Despite operating against a difficult economic backdrop and in a competitive sector, we have been able to successfully grow from our roots in the energy sector and forge a path based on our founding principle of understanding our clients and candidates, and working precisely to get the best results time after time.

“Operating challenges continue, and we have had to remain resilient throughout but by partnering with clients to navigate present market conditions and leverage the benefits of a relationship-based approach we have positioned ourselves as success enablers who work alongside our clients towards common goals.”

He added: “Whilst our sphere very much embraces the digital world, our methods remain firmly person-led, and this will continue to be the foundation for growth as we look ahead with confidence and optimism.”
