Aberlour Futures celebration of SVQ candidates 2016

In celebration of their recent success in achieving SVQ & PDA Awards over 100 students, family and friends gathered at the Copthorne Hotel in Aberdeen on June 23.

The gathering was to celebrate their success in achieving SVQ Qualifications Level 2, 3, 4 in Children Care Learning & Development, Social Services Children & Young People, Playwork and Professional Development in Childhood Practice, SCQF Level 9.

A total of 85 students including 17 Modern Apprentices received a certificate from Mr Jim Wallace Director of Children & Families, Aberlour Childcare Trust.

Speeches were made by Mark Duguid Area Co-ordinator from Community Link Childcare. Mark’s speech came from the heart as he shared his experiences of his learning journey, including the challenges and rewarding times whilst studying for his SVQ 3 in Playwork.

Vicky Cartney from Great Western Pre School and Emma Walker from Little Dreams Nursery also shared their journey as being part of the first cohort to achieve the Professional Development Award in Childhood Practice. They delivered an honest picture of their 2 year journey with the many challenges along the way, and said “one of the positive things about delivery of the PDA was the support we received from the tutors and other students on the course”

Jim Wallace concluded the evening with congratulating all the students on their achievements.

It was a very successful evening with plenty to celebrate with family and friends.
