MHA, the chartered accountancy and business advisory firm, has announced a series of senior appointments and partner promotions as it continues to grow its Scotland team.
MHA is continuing to recruit across its Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices for trainee, qualified and senior roles. Across the firm, MHA has more than 2,300 staff and 150 partners.
In Edinburgh, the firm has appointed Stephen Thom as corporate tax partner and Joshua Williams as personal client tax director, alongside the promotion of Alan Downie and Allan Smith to partner roles.
Euan Fernie, partner at MHA, said: “Stephen and Joshua strengthen our senior tax capability, while the promotions of Alan and Allan to partner roles rightly recognise the depth of experience and leadership already within the firm. Together, these appointments reflect both sustained growth in Scotland and a clear commitment to investing in people as we continue to expand our team across all levels.”
Stephen’s appointment follows a period running his own tax consultancy. He began his career in London with BDO before returning to Scotland to work within a multinational financial services business. He later returned to practice as head of tax at a mid-tier firm and brings extensive experience advising mid to large corporate clients on a variety of matters and across a number of sectors. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of corporate restructuring, the taxation of corporate debt and property related tax structures.
