activpayroll, a leading global payroll, mobility, tax, HR and payments specialist, officially opened its new office in Kochi, India, on 1 October 2026.
The launch marks an important step in the company’s continued international expansion and establishes a long-term base from which activpayroll can invest in talent, capability and future opportunities in India.
India represents a significant opportunity for activpayroll. Its growing economy, highly skilled workforce and rapidly developing technology and professional services sectors make it an increasingly important location for global businesses. Establishing a presence in Kochi gives activpayroll access to a strong and diverse talent pool while creating opportunities to develop new skills, careers and leadership capability locally.
India is also an increasingly important market for activpayroll’s customers. A significant proportion of the company’s global customer base has operations in India, with many also having senior leadership and management teams based in the country. Establishing a permanent presence brings activpayroll closer to its customers as well as to the talent and expertise needed to support their continued growth.
The new office will initially support activpayroll’s global operations, with plans to grow the team and broaden the capabilities delivered from India over time. The ambition is to build a sustainable operation that creates meaningful career and development opportunities for local talent while becoming an increasingly important part of activpayroll’s global delivery model.
The operation will start with an experienced activpayroll team already deeply familiar with the company, its customers and its ways of working. Several long-standing colleagues will play leading roles in establishing the Kochi hub, providing continuity, operational experience and a strong foundation from which to recruit and develop the wider team.
The opening was marked by a ceremony attended by activpayroll leaders, employees and invited guests, with Susanth Kurunthil, CEO of Infopark, and Jacob Sebastian, Senior Trade Advisor – Financial Services at the British Deputy High Commission, Bengaluru, joining as Guests of Honour. Kochi will become activpayroll’s first operational hub in India, adding to its established international footprint and strengthening the company’s ability to support customers and operations around the world.
Gary Henderson, CEO of activpayroll, said: “Opening in Kochi is about much more than adding another location to our global footprint. We see a real opportunity to build something significant in India, while continuing the international expansion of activpayroll more broadly.
“India has an exceptional talent base, an economy that continues to develop at pace and is already a strategically important location for many of our customers. A significant number of the organisations we support have operations and senior leadership teams in India, so having our own presence in the country brings us closer to them while strengthening our ability to support their ambitions.
“For us, that creates the opportunity to bring experienced activpayroll people together with new local talent, build new capabilities and create genuine career opportunities as the operation grows.
“We are fortunate to have an experienced team who already know our business and our customers leading the development of the office from day one. That gives us a strong foundation, but this is very much about what comes next in building a talented local team and establishing Kochi as an important part of activpayroll’s global business for the long term.
“India is also part of a wider story for activpayroll. We intend to continue investing internationally, both by expanding our presence in existing markets and by identifying further geographies where we can get closer to our customers, access strong talent and build new capability.”
The India operation is being led by Kimberly Morrison, Middle East & South Africa Payroll Operations Manager, who is overseeing the establishment and development of the Kochi team. Manish Mehta, Regional Director of Payroll Operations and Head of Global Support Services APAC, is supporting the growth of the hub within activpayroll’s wider APAC structure.
