Advocacy North East has announced an exciting opportunity for emerging or established leaders to gain board-level experience in a supportive and a well-governed environment. 

They are offering a non-executive director and trustee placement with their board with the potential for the candidate to develop leadership skills within a welcoming and structured framework.

About Advocacy North East

Advocacy North East (ANE) is a voluntary organisation with charitable status and a Company Limited by Guarantee. They are a long established provider of independent advocacy to adults in Aberdeenshire and to Aberdeenshire residents who are receiving services in hospitals in Aberdeen and are now developing their service to provide independent advocacy for children and young people too. They support people who may be at risk of exclusion to have their voices heard, uphold their rights, and navigate complex health and social care systems.

ANE work with individuals who may be affected by:

  • Mental ill health
  • Learning disabilities
  • Dementia
  • Autism

Their work ensures that people are heard, respected, and involved in decisions about their lives and so helps strengthen the communities that they live in.

Commitment

  • Up to 6 board meetings per year (including an annual Strategy Day)
  • Preparation through reading Board papers in advance of meetings
  • Occasional contribution to discussions and proposals between meetings (via email)
  • Typical time commitment: ~1 day per month
