Andy Milne, regional sales manager at AEL Electrical in Aberdeen is competing in the Banger Car Rally (Two Ball Rally) around the NC500 on October 25 in aid of Maggies Aberdeen.

Following a recent cancer scare Andy had in July this year, Maggies Aberdeen helped Andy get to grips with the potential of life with cancer. Thankfully, following surgery, he was given the all-clear and would like to do what he can to support the cancer support charity.

Andy said: “Getting the news that the results had come back negative came as much as a shock to finding out I may have cancer and whilst I was delighted with the news struggled to change my mindset back to “being ok”. Maggies welcomed me in for a chat and helped me accept the fact I was given the all-clear.

"As a thank you and to help with Maggies Aberdeen Centre, I am doing a Banger Car Rally (Two Ball Rally) around the NC500 on October 25. I was due to participate in the Romanian rally in 2020 which was cancelled due to CV19. The guys at Two Ball Rally have allowed me to join, what they call the TBR 700, which is essentially the NC500 with a little extra mileage. The rally was something I had wanted to take part in for years but never really got round to it so when I got the chance I thought, why not raise some money for charity at the same time? Maggies was the perfect choice.

"I toyed with a few ideas on how to raise money and finally came up with the advertising theme by selling ad space for companies logo’s on the car for donations. I spoke with Ross at ReCreate in Ellon regarding printing the logos and he offered to print and fit the logo’s for free which I thought was fantastic as it meant all donations would go direct to Maggies. All the companies I approached for donations jumped at the chance and thought it was a great idea. Once we have all the logo’s on the car I will be thanking everyone by means of a post on my Facebook and LinkedIn pages and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated to date for helping a very worthy charity. “

Any companies who would be interested in advertising their business through their logo on the car for a donation please get in touch for details, for anyone who would like to contribute please feel free to give what you can to my Giving Page. Andy will be posting updates on the monies raised and also our progress on the Rally via his Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
