AGR bolsters UK and Africa operations with new COO

AGR, the independent global provider of well management solutions, well delivery software solutions, personnel placement and reservoir consultancy, has appointed Aberdeen-based Andrew Stannard as chief operating officer of its UK and Africa business units.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the global energy industry, Andrew assumes the position after serving as a contracts manager with the company and will be responsible for driving AGR’s growth and development strategy across the North Sea, Europe and in Africa.

His appointment not only bolsters the organisation’s credentials but ensures it is best placed to continue servicing clients on well construction and decommissioning, well engineering projects, delivering consultant manpower and software solutions.

Drawing on the expertise of its operational hub in Aberdeen, AGR has managed over 530 well projects across six continents and placed more than 3,700 consultants in over 100 locations.

Commenting on his appointment, Stannard said: “With over 530 well projects in its portfolio and access to resource pool of over 9,000 consultants, AGR is uniquely positioned to deliver technical solutions to clients and continue to be the preferred technical partner for upstream projects.

I’m looking forward to leading AGR’s highly experienced team and managing the daily business as we work together to our next phase of development. The potential for growth in the North Sea, Europe and in Africa is very exciting and I’m looking forward to leveraging these opportunities and expanding our business.”

Andrew succeeds the long-term region manager Ian Burdis, who will continue as EVP of UK and Africa. Ian will be responsible for the leadership of existing alliance projects and the building of future consortium and integrated assignments.

Ian added: “It has become clear through our recent strategy development process that contractor collaboration to deliver integrated development and P&A projects is an increasingly important feature in the industry going forward and one which requires a dedicated resource to develop. I am excited by the opportunity to focus on the creation of alliance and consortium business models for AGR.”

Svein Sollund, CEO at AGR said: “I’m very pleased that Andrew has decided to join our international team. I am confident he and Ian will successfully build our business to meet the growing market demand and at the same time develop new commercial models adding value to our clients’ projects.”
