AGS Airports has announced the internal appointment of Robert Paterson as operations director of Aberdeen International Airport.
Reporting directly to AGS’ chief operating officer, Ronald Leitch, Robert has assumed his new role bringing extensive operational experience gained across the aviation sector.
Robert has been a key member of the Aberdeen team for several years, most recently serving as head of operations where he played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience.
Having started with Aberdeen International Airport in 1998 as a baggage handler, Robert has had several roles within the airport including head of airside operations.
Ronald Leitch, chief operating officer at AGS, said: “Robert has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and a deep understanding of the operational challenges and opportunities at Aberdeen. His appointment comes at an exciting time as we continue to invest in infrastructure and sustainability initiatives that will shape the future of the airport.”
Commenting on his appointment, Robert said: “I started with Aberdeen International Airport as a baggage handler in 1998 and I am delighted to take on the role of operations director. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated team as we focus on delivering a safe, efficient, and world-class experience for our passengers and airline partners.
In January 2025, AGS was acquired by AviAlliance, one of the world’s leading private airport operators, who announced plans to invest £350million over the next five years to support growth and decarbonisation across AGS’ airports. This investment will include upgrades to airfield infrastructure and energy efficiency projects at Aberdeen, ensuring the airport is equipped to meet future demand.
