Scottish actor Alan Cumming has joined calls to save STV North, backing a campaign to stop plans that would merge its Aberdeen and central operations.
STV has proposed cutting around 60 jobs and replacing its regional bulletins with a single Scotland-wide programme presented from Glasgow.
Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce chief executive Russell Borthwick warned the decision risks "silencing the voice of the North-east at a critical time”.
Posting on his Instagram story, Cumming shared the petition saying: "We've got to save STV North!!".
His support follows a united appeal last week from the leaders of Scotland’s five main political parties, who urged Ofcom to block STV’s proposal to end the dedicated news programme for the north of Scotland.
